WAX SETTING

Wax Setting

Wax Setting is a process where gemstones are placed into a wax model before metal casting.The gems are held in place by wax, and when the wax is melted away, the metal flows in and forms the final piece around the stones, often pre-setting the gems for a more seamless finish.

Wax Tree

The wax pieces on a wax stem are being soldered which is called ‘treeing’. The treeing is the process where a spruce is attached to every wax piece, making an angle of approx. 45 degree with the stem. The lighter items are placed at the top of the tree, while the heavier ones are placed at the bottom of the tree.

Wax Injection

The two halves of the mold are brought together and placed under a liquid casting machine, where molten wax is injected.

Once the wax cools and solidifies, it is removed, creating a perfect replica of the original master mold. This is called a wax model.
